Community Service & Activities
Sigma Gamma Rho and the Rhoer club foster Sisterhood, Service and Scholarship. Throughout the year, the Rhoers are involved in various community service projects, programs, fundraisers and bonding activities. Here are some examples :
Bonding Activities
Rhoer Round Up - Rhoers get together for fun activities and invite young ladies who are interested to learn more about the Rhoer club.
Paint Party w/ the Rhoers - Rhoers and other ladies were creative with making a painting that was designed by our Soror Ashley Jones.
The rhoers have also participated in the strolling and stepping, escape room, sleepovers, bowling, skating, movie night, virtual monthly sisterhood activities on a regional level. This is a great opportunity for rhoers to interact with other rhoers in the region.
National Programs
Youth Symposium - a day of education provided by alumnae chapters to youth and community members to address the concerns that negative impact our youth today.
Women's Wellness Activities-Breast Cancer Awareness, Human Trafficking with Pittsburgh Action Against Rape, HIV Awareness, Self Defense Class with Lioness Martial Arts, and many other programming.
Community Service
Ward Home - collecting items for young ladies living independently in the Ward Home, which is a community based program that serves at risk youth, ages 16 to 21, who have grown up in the foster care system.
Ronald McDonald House- Prepare breakfast, lunch or dinner for individuals receiving services from the Ronald McDonald House
Trunk or Treat with Light of Life Mission- made candy bags and handed them out to kids to promote a safe Halloween Night!
FUNdraising
Bake Sale- sold baked goods at a local school. Rhoers worked together to make brownies, cupcakes and cake pops. The night ended with a Sleepover!!
Crafton Celebrates - Rhoers set up a Ring toss booth at the Crafton festival and raised $$$ for their programming.
Candle Fundraiser- this fundraiser helped the rhoer raise money to buy hair kits with natural hair care products.The kits were given to girls and teenagers in the the foster care system.
